We were delighted with the response to our website last year with no less than 25% of our customers ordering online. After listening to all your comments we have tried to improved the look and feel of the site and this year have been amazed by the response, with almost 45% of our orders coming via the online shop. We have lots of other ideas to improve the shop even further and hopefully during the summer, when it's a little quieter, we can put those plans into action!
'Hot off the press' is our new Spring Catalogue with a good selection of both flower and vegetable seeds which are ideal for sowing in the summer. New summer sowing flowers include the 2009 Fleuroselect Gold Medal Winner Prunella Freelander Blue. The intense violet blue flowers are ideal for borders and containers. Coreopsis Be Bop with its brilliant yellow star shaped flowers wil be in full flower 6 weeks after sowing and must be one of the fastest flowering annuals ever!
Our summer vegetable introductions include a bespoke Sicilian Rocket Salad Mixture which is not only superb on its own but really adds to a standard Lettuce mixture. Nothing tastes better than 'home grown' and especially interesting is a red stemmed, red skinned salad Turnip where even the hairless leaves can be used. We have the very latest new and improved Golden Beetroot 'Touchstone Gold' which mixed with the red provides a surprise on most salad plates. Very fleshy, a good rich golden colour and most importantly - very tasty.
We always like to bring our customers a few 'rarieties' from the plant world and this year is no exception. Double Oxalis Pompom almost took our breath away with its stunning rich shell pink flowers as did the staggeringly beautiful Double Trillium Snowbunting and the mesmerizing turquoise blue Ixia viridiflora. Plants are available in limited quanitites so do rush! If you're looking for a 'shock' of colour for your porch or windowsil then look no further than our Achimenes and Cape Primroses - they are long lasting and really easy to grow.
We can hardly believe that Plants of Distinction is now in its 21st year. We are still a family run business - we still get our hands dirty and burn much too much midnight oil. We depend on your loyalty and sincerely appreciate every single order you place.
Our policy is still the same today as when we put our first Catalogue together and that is we will sell only the best quality - professional quality - seed available today and so we were delighted that in December the Consumer Magazine Which? rated us as one of the top two suppliers for seed quality and germination.
You won't see our packets slashed to half price, however, all our seed is competitely priced and you can be assured that you will get the very freshest seed available, all hand packed at a realistic price.
Finally, this year as a thank you we will be including a complimentary packet of our new Godetia Salmon Glow with every flower order totalling £15 and anyone ordering vegetables will receive a complimentary packet of Broccoli Windsor Green.
